Vietnam will introduce policies to encourage rooftop solar power generation

Oct 17, 2024

Vietnam's "Government Electronics" recently reported that Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a government executive meeting to review the draft government decree on encouraging self-production and self-use of rooftop solar power generation systems. After listening to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the opinions of the participating representatives, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the Ministry of Industry and Trade to revise the draft decree based on relevant opinions and submit it to the government for promulgation next week.

According to relevant policies, organizations and individuals who invest in rooftop solar power generation systems but do not use them in full can sell no more than 20% of the installed capacity to the power grid, and the electricity price is not higher than the average market price of the previous year. At the same time, industrial parks, export processing zones, economic zones and high-tech zones are allowed to trade and buy and sell self-use rooftop solar energy.
