The U.S. Electric Power Company of Georgia has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) on approximately 1030 MW of utility-scale renewable energy power generation capacity, which will be put into use in 2023 and 2024.
A subsidiary of Utilities Southern Corporation said on Monday that the competitive tender will be launched in the first quarter of next year.
In addition to renewable energy projects, RFP will also seek offers for renewable energy capacity with integrated battery storage. The consulting firm Accion Group Inc has been hired as an independent evaluator for the process.
RfP will be held as part of Georgian Power’s 2019 Integrated Resources Plant and will be in line with the company’s efforts to diversify its power generation portfolio and expand its renewable energy supply, adding 2 GW of utility-scale capacity. The company has already operated more than 2.7 GW of wind, solar and hydropower stations, and will add another 2.7 GW by the end of 2024.
